Building materials used
Wood as a building material
The use of wood as a natural building material for house construction is growing rapidly in the domestic and international construction market. A timber-framed structure will retain its basic physical properties for up to 600 years if built using the right technology. Prefabricated wooden houses are fully competitive in durability with well-built, traditionally constructed houses. Thanks to modern technology, they also have improved properties in many parameters. Our structures are made of CE certified Austrian construction material KVH, a longitudinally braced, solid structural beam, which is dimensionally stable and does not deform due to artificial drying. The use of chemical wood preservatives can be avoided through kiln-drying, so we can create a healthier environment inside the houses we build.
Cellulose thermal insulation
Cellulose insulation is a building material made from recycled waste paper, and the energy required to produce it is a fraction of the energy required to produce conventional insulation. The cellulose insulation material is almost entirely recyclable, and it is also a completely waste-free, so-called “recycled” material. is delivered to its final destination by injection technology. In the production of cellulose insulation, the waste paper is sorted, coarsely shredded, mixed with boric acid and then finely ground. Boric acid protects the cellulose insulation from insect and fungal attack and makes it resistant to corrosion and fire. Boric acid is a naturally occurring substance that is used in the construction industry as well as in the food industry. In agriculture, it is used as a foliar fertiliser, as boron plays an essential role in the uptake of nutrients by plants. Cellulose insulation does not contain any harmful or irritating substances, and provides a livable thermal insulation even after the house is built. Cellulose insulation is a better thermal and sound insulator than glass or rock wool. Its impressive thermal insulation properties are further enhanced by the fact that it is guaranteed to fill even the smallest cavities due to the application technology. The absence of gaps is sure to make the insulation of your home heat bridge-free. The high thermal conductivity of cellulose insulation means that the insulation and the wall are very difficult to heat through in summer. The cellulose insulation absorbs and releases moisture as needed, regulating the humidity inside. Moreover, it does all this without changing the insulation value.
Fire resistance of cellulose
Cellulose insulation has reliable fire safety properties. It has achieved the best rating among combustible insulations and building materials: EN 1350-I Class: B2 (non-combustible, resistant to open flame for 30 minutes).
Vapour barrier, vapour control and vapour permeable films
Proper and correct air tightness and vapour management is one of the most important requirements for a modern building, which is achieved with the right technological foil systems.
Building boards
Plasterboard is ideal for automated, in-shop machining and provides excellent rigidity to our structures. It is structurally scalable, has high fire-retardant properties and can be used universally for interior and exterior walls, in wet or dry rooms. OSB building board is a commonly used in prefabricated, lightweight house construction, a cost-effective solution to achieve the required rigidity. We use formaldehyde-free sheets. Both gypsum fibre and OSB are very strong: they are easier and safer to use for wall fixings in general applications than hollow brick walls. For surfaces designed for high loads (boilers, suspended cabinets), we install KVH beam reinforcement behind the building plates.
Windows and doors
We also use high quality plastic, wood and aluminium/aluminium doors and windows in our system, according to the customer’s needs.
Plastic windows and doors
The plastic windows and doors are manufactured from high-quality German SCHÜCO profiles, based on a production plan, with 3-layer glazing by our supplier partner. Our system includes the SCHÜCO Living 82 profile system.
Wooden windows and doors
The wooden windows and doors are also made for us by our supplier partner with 3 layers of heat-insulating glazing, in high quality. Available in different colours and with different actuation.
Aluminium windows and doors
These types of windows are included in our premium range. The manufacturer produces plastic and aluminium/aluminium windows and doors for us.
Shading
The shading systems we use include all the most common types of shading – shutters, blinds, shutters, sun nets. They are available with manual, electric or even fully automatic operation.
Façade appearances
The building’s façade reflects the thinking of the time. It can show how innovative building products and technologies that enable quality construction influence traditional and modern architectural styles. Façades are a key element of our built environment, for which the various manufacturers have a responsibility. In addition to the trend, it is also worth paying attention to the aesthetic harmonisation of the building materials used in the construction of the house with the environment. A well-chosen facade provides good ventilation and supports thermal insulation. From the outside, it protects the walls of the house from the elements: rain, snow, wind, ice, cold and heat.
Thermal insulation of facades
The walls can be covered from the outside with different types of façade insulation systems. At Weinmann Haus, we most commonly use the frost pole and EPS systems. Wood wool is a natural material which, combined with gypsum fibre building board and cellulose insulation, forms a vapour-open system, i.e. walls made of wood wool are able to release the absorbed vapour out of the building. This results in houses with extremely favourable building physics and building biology properties, which allows for a unique living environment. The EPS system is used for its high thermal insulation and cost-effectiveness. With EPS systems, the insulation values typical of passive houses can be achieved with smaller cross-sections.
Plasters
Plaster can be used to create an almost limitless variety of creative finishes on facades, from a completely smooth plaster to a rough surface. A further advantage of render over other decorative finishes is that it can be repainted over time, so you can always have a modern and clean finish on your house.
Fabrurkolat
When designing an exterior cladding, the choice of materials is a key issue. Wood cladding is also a decorative element suitable for cladding the façade. The beauty of the wood cladding is inimitable, giving the house an undeniably unique look.
Composite cladding
With the wall cladding panel, you have creative possibilities when designing a façade or creating interior spaces. In addition to the natural wood effect, it is also available in modern colours or with stone surfaces. High-quality wall cladding panels are a building product that can be used as a large sheet for durable applications.
Gerenda
Wood has excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties, which is why wood masonry can achieve very favourable energy values. Another advantage is that the climate in the home is also very optimal, thanks to the fact that the wood can absorb too much humidity, and if the air is too dry, it releases the right amount of humidity from the walls, “breathing”. The heat storage capacity of log cabin walls is high, so they do not overheat during the summer months, in addition to the low heating costs in winter, and last but not least, they are an elegant and rustic choice of building materials.
Metal plate
Quality sheet metal roofing and cladding can be used in a very wide range of applications, in both historic and modern environments. The aesthetics and ease of machining of sheet metal means that there are no limits to the designer’s imagination, which means that even the most unusual architectural ideas can be realised. Furthermore, the quality sheet metal cover is long-lasting and weather-resistant.
Roof cladding
When specifying building materials, there is also a wide range of choices when it comes to roof shells. Tile roofing is still the most popular choice for building a family house today. The choice available is wide: by colour, shape or form. It can be smooth or corrugated, fired ceramic or concrete tile. Of course, in addition to the classic tile roofing, we also offer aluminium cladding and a variety of flat roof systems.
Mechanical engineering
Good design can save half the energy needed to run a building. The domestic construction industry is increasingly focusing on environmentally conscious, energy-saving solutions. From 2020, only near-zero energy residential buildings will be built. Builders are increasingly open to new technologies and materials, and they are also thinking more consciously about mechanical installations as a complex system. Designing for both occupant comfort and energy efficiency is key. Our offers include state-of-the-art solar systems, electric heating solutions, heat pumps, ventilation systems, smart house applications.
Heat pump
Heat pump systems provide domestic hot water and a pleasant feeling of warmth for houses and buildings. They are quiet, comfortable and use little energy. A well-selected heat pump system can reduce your home’s heating energy consumption by up to 75%.
Design of the wet block
This includes sanitary ware, sanitary and toilet hygiene products, as well as indoor furniture. More commonly known as sinks, toilets, baths, urinals, shower cubicles. It’s important to have good quality sanitary ware in your home, as we use it every day. There are many different types of bathroom furniture. You can also get wall-mounted, built-in and pedestal washbasins. So they fit perfectly into the ambience of your bathroom. It is worth choosing these elements well, as the bathrooms are designed for the long term, 10-15 years.
